She was the lead in Cristian Mugiu's Romanian film "4 luni 3 saptamani e 2 days" (4 months, three weeks and Two Days) which earned her the Palme d'Or award at Cannes Film Festival 2007. The film also earned two awards in addition, The Cinema Prize of French National Education System (FIPRESCI Prize) as well as the Cinema Prize. Youth Without Youth, a Francis Ford Coppola movie, was also part of her work. In 2008, she played Yasim Anwar in the BBC Five-episode miniseries The Last Enemy. Marinca had roles in Oliver Hirschbiegel's Five Minutes of Heaven as also in the Romanian film Boogie. In the feature film Fury (2014) the actress was Irma, a German woman who played Emma's aunt.
